In the Summertime

“Beamish” by Kevin Thorne

Our summer programme has been fantastic this year. The good weather plus a great selection of outings by Kevin Thorne, our club president, has produced a variety of superb photographic opportunities for club members. Add to that top notch communications regarding the programme from John Sommerville, Club Secretary, keeping us all up-to-date with the logistics of each event. And consequently, good numbers of members have been turning out.

Outings have included a trip to Beamish Museum near Durham, a visit to the waterfalls in the hills above Fairlie and a day trip to the World of Wings near Cumbernauld.

“Puffins at Isle of May” – Kevin Thorne

Our nature photographers relished a day at the Isle of May, though unfortunately the Ailsa Craig shoot had to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.

Shorter sorties led us to the Kaffir wreck off Ayr, a Beach Rugby competition, the Railway Museum at Dunaskin and a ceremony involving Scotia’s Warrior a group dedicated in keeping Scotland’s history alive.

It’s been a brilliant summer programme and the best thing is …. It’s not finished yet.
