About Us

Formed in 1997, Kilmaurs Photographic Club has been one of the most successful small camera clubs in Scotland.

The club has a winter programme of presentations and talks. We meet in Kilmaurs Masonic Lodge Halls, 22 Main Street, Kilmaurs, from mid-September through to April on Monday evenings at 7:30pm until 10:00pm. You can enjoy up to three free visits before deciding to take membership.

Alan Stewart who organises the meeting schedule says: “We aim to have something for everyone. Speakers include professional photographers, but just as often our talks are given by our own in-club talent.”   This year our speakers will cover a range of topics including Landscape, Wildlife and Sports photography.

Also within our schedule, we run a series of formal and informal competitions. Some have a pre-set subject, such as ‘Sport’ or ‘Portraits’, while others are entirely freestyle Open competitions. Prints and/or digital images are presented anonymously and assessed by a qualified judge.

Kilmaurs Photographic Club has been very successful nationally and has consistently been in the top ten Scottish Clubs at national inter Club Competitions over the years.

Several members have gone on to win individual accolades in national, and even international competitions. Recently, we congratulated Robert Quig in achieving his EFIAP with over 500 acceptances in International Salons. This is the Excellent Level of the “Federation of International Photographic Art”. He has also been successful in the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year competition where his portfolio of 3 images was given a Highly Commended in the Overall category.

The club aims to promote high standards of photography in a friendly environment, and it is suitable for anyone with an enthusiasm for photography. So, whatever your level of expertise, the club has something to offer you. With a wide variety of activities, you can choose how much or how little you want to participate.

If you would like to join us, why not come along on one of our Monday evenings? We would be delighted to see you.

Please contact our Club Secretary via our Contact Page, for the answers to any questions and up to date information about our next meeting.
